Pet of the Month, Roxie!

Roxie Wisley in bed

Congratulations to Roxie – Pet of the Month!  She lives with Amanda and Rob of Bowie, Maryland.

Late last summer Amanda and Rob Wisley went to the Prince Georges County Animal Shelter to look for a dog to adopt.  As they were walking through the facility Amanda noticed an adorable puppy in a cage, awaiting some routine shots – in a room not accessible to adopters.  It was by luck that they passed by this room.  At first glance both Amanda and Rob instantly fell in love with the puppy, but unfortunately were told that someone had already submitted an application to adopt her.   One week later, however, they received the phone call that the other applicants, although qualified, withdrew their application. Amanda and Rob were ecstatic!  At the time of adoption the shelter estimated that Roxie was about a year old, but two months after getting her, a friend who is a veterinary technician looked at Roxie’s teeth and estimated that she was, at most, 6 to 8 months old.  So Roxie is now is just over 18 months old.

Roxie is a very energetic dog who always seems to find her way into trouble, particularly when it comes to chewing Amanda’s belongings into a little pieces, and then hiding them underneath the sofa in her secret hide-away spot. Despite her antics though, Roxie always endearingly comes back to lick Amanda’s and Rob’s faces!

In this montage, Roxie greets Rob who had just returned from a 6 month deployment;  plays with Chewie the Golden Retriever; celebrates with Amanda and Rob; and takes in some well-deserved relaxation.
