Grooming Your Dog – The Basics
As dog owners we’ve all been there before. We’ve asked ourselves what we should be doing beyond the once a season, or six times a year, dog baths. Well, there are a number of reasons as to why it is important to groom your dog – and a few things to keep uppermost in mind.
Brushing Your Pet’s Teeth
Brushing your pet’s teeth on a regular basis will help prevent tooth decay and loss. “Hmmmmm”, you say to yourself, “Brushing my pet’s teeth is not going to be easy. In fact I think it might be impossible”. Well, not so!
Pet Food Recalls
It seems that in the past few years food recalls of one sort or another on a number of foods have been issued. The same holds true for pet foods.
Salmonella contamination is one of the main culprits. It is well known that this bacteria can cause problems not only for humans, but pets as well. Pets who have been infected may exhibit decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. If left untreated your pet may experience lethargy, diarrhea and vomiting. Humans may also exhibit some of the same symptoms, as well as more serious ailments if they come in contact with food infected with Salmonella.
